It is the end of the 1st quarter of 2023. How are you doing on your goals?
For the people that took my Raise Your BAR Strategic Planning Workshop at the beginning of the year, I’ve been sending out reminders to them to make sure they check in with their projects and habits to see where they were on the FLOW line and to ensure they were creating calendar appointments for all of their tasks.
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Raise Your BAR is my methodology for achieving the best out of life. It is based on the pole volt or high jump contest. The winner of the contest, the person who succeeds is the one who manages to continuously raise the BAR and get over it long after his/her competition can’t (or in most cases won’t).
I used to watch my boyfriend pole vault in high school. It’s a scary sport if you ask me. But it does make a really great metaphor. When you pole vault you have to plant the pole and bend it in such a way that it propels you up over the top of the bar. Your job is to stretch up and push yourself just centimetres above the bar. On the way down, you get feedback as to whether or not you were successful. I can remember my boyfriend looking up at the bar just praying it stayed in place.
When I ask people to raise their BAR, I’m talking about their Beliefs, Actions, and Results. For me, your beliefs are like the pole; they propel you to where you want to go. If you don’t believe you can make it to your destination, the pole will break and you’ll find yourself flat on the ground. Your actions are you stretching yourself up and over the bar. It’s the stretch that really counts. It isn’t going to be comfortable and you’re not always going to get it right. With consistent attempts, you get feedback to what works and what doesn’t. The Results are whether or not that bar stays on its base or comes falling down on top of you. Your results provide power to your beliefs and actions.
In combination, your beliefs, actions and results will get you to where you need to go. This is what I teach in my Raise Your BAR Strategic Planning Workshop. I then fill it in with the exact system I use for turning those beliefs and actions into stunning results. And that’s where my clients FLOW.
It doesn’t matter what system you use to achieve your results. Now is the time to check in and see if you are on track. If not, maybe now is also a good time to get back in touch with the system you use.
